IESL Council Election for the Session 2017/2018

I am participating in the IESL Council Election for the Session 2017/2018 as a candidate for the position of Chairman of the IT & Communication Engineering Sectional Committee.

Below is my Election Statement:

I have been a member of IESL from 2002 and Secretary of the IT & Communication Engineering Sectional Committee during council sessions 2008/2009 to 2010/2011 and 2012/2013 to 2014/2015. During Council sessions 2015/2016 and 2016/2017, I have been the Chairman of the Sectional committee.

I have worked closely with members of the sectional committee and other engineering colleagues to conduct membership drives, seminars, workshops, and competitions to improve the interaction among members and also to enhance the profile of IESL among general public.

As a Council member, I contributed to implementation of e-Voting and also to face the challenging legal issues that IESL encountered dusring the current session.

My objectives as a Council member in the new session are

  1. to increase the number of Chartered Computer Engineers,
  2. to increase the number of Recognized Training Places for computer engineers,
  3. to gain recognition for the Directory of Consultant Engineers in ICT Systems,
  4. to strengthen the control and oversight of IESL in Engineering Degree Program Recognition and Accreditation, especially for Computer Engineering, and
  5. to improve the transparency and relevance of Council decisions making to the members of the Institution.
